My Therapeutic Approach

Each individual’s goals, background and preferences are different. Therefore, your sessions will be tailored to meet your goals and suitable for your needs. I focus on positive health, therefore, our sessions will not only aim for the absence of negative emotions or illness, but will also support you to reach your holistic wellness and sustain your wellness for the long-term. My approaches include positive psychological intervention, hypnotherapy, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based therapy, as well as coaching and counselling. These approaches will be integrated and applied in our sessions to support you to overcome your issues and enhance your well-being.

You can learn more details about each approach below…

Hypnotherapy applies positive suggestions to your mind while you are experiencing trance (an altered state of mind or deep relaxation) in order to bring about subconscious changes to your thoughts, feelings and behaviour. When we are in trance, learning and openness to changes are most likely to occur. This state allows you to absorb beneficial suggestions to your subconscious mind, which acts as a controller of your thoughts, feelings and behaviour. The given hypnotherapeutic suggestions are constructive and will reinforce you to utilise your inner resources to help you overcome your issues or change your behaviours from the subconscious level. Furthermore, hypnotherapy can enable you to perceive something differently, such as shifting your awareness to reduce pain or to focus on positives. It also allows you to explore and manage your underlying thoughts, feelings and memories that might have hidden from your conscious mind, which could be the cause of emotional issues you are experiencing.

Overall, I apply hypnotherapy to help you lessen and change unwanted thoughts, overcome unwanted feelings and behaviours. Hypnotherapy can resolve the underlying causes that have been hidden in your subconscious mind. It will also cultivate positive thoughts, feelings and behaviour, which will support you to achieve your goals.

Positive Psychology

Theory and practice in positive psychology focus on promoting well-being by encouraging positive thoughts and behaviours, creating an understanding of one’s strengths. It also utilises one’s resources in order to maximise the potential for subjective success and happiness in one’s life. Positive psychological interventions are based on the theory that positive emotions can undo negative emotions and support people to broaden their mind and build up their ability to effectively overcome difficulties and to flourish.

In our sessions, I will bring in positive psychological exercises that can support you in your situation, and facilitate you to apply them in your daily life. The continual practice will improve your emotional well-being and support you to obtain and sustain a healthy state of mind.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is a talking therapy that helps you to focus on how your thoughts, beliefs and attitudes affect your feelings and behaviour. As we work together, you will realise and be aware of your thought patterns and beliefs that may cause your unwanted feelings and actions. Hence, it will allow you to manage and lessen such thoughts and beliefs to alleviate your unwanted feelings and behaviours using coping strategies that will be provided in the sessions.

Mindfulness is the practice of being in present, bringing your awareness to “here and now”. The practice of mindfulness will increase your awareness of the present moment, therefore allowing you to let go of the past and be peaceful with the future. Mindfulness helps with various emotional issues such as stress, anger, anxiety and depression because such emotions tend to stem from the negative thoughts of the past and the future (‘what happened’ or ‘what may happen’).

As I guide you through the various techniques of mindfulness, you will be able to implement it into your daily life. Mindful living is able to sustain and take care of your own emotional well-being in the long term.

Life Coaching and Counselling

Life coaching and counselling are different approaches that complement very well with each other. Counselling focuses on the past and the underlying causes of the issues. It allows you time and space to clear your mind and organise your thoughts to search for your own solutions and your goals. My role in counselling is supporting you through the process of finding your own solutions. Life coaching, on the other hand, focuses on optimising the present and moving on to the future. It is a goal-oriented method that will help you to attain what you want in life. We will focus on harmonising different areas of life including career, relationship, achievement, as well as meaning and purposes to enhance your well-being and happiness.
